Customers, too, need to put some thought into who they hire for this task. Here are four keys to consider:
1. Confirm that your provider is insured, in case there is any damage that occurs in the course of work. Does your small operator (think solo practitioner) have sufficient insurance?
2. Get acquainted with the Snow Removal Service Liability Limitation Act. Enacted in 2016, it states property owners can no longer transfer liability to a contractor for losses that were not the contractor’s fault. So, choosing a quality contractor is even more crucial.
3. Insist on clear communication—what kind of weather forecasting do you receive, do you know when the snow-removal crews will come, and what if something pushes them off schedule? With McAdam, notification happens in whatever manner the client requests—usually via e-mail.
